The organization of the concert season at the Church of the Pietà, supported by the Provincial Institute for Childhood, facilitates the realization of culturally enriching and highly interesting tours related to the life and work of Antonio Vivaldi within the rich musical life of his time.
Starting from the charming small Museum of the Pietà, which houses precious and rare musical instruments once used by the female orchestra of the Pietà, these tours explore the places where Vivaldi was born and lived with his family, the church where he was baptized, and the areas where the theaters stood for which Antonio, the “Red Priest,” and his colleagues created dozens of new melodramas.
The tours include a visit to the Teatro La Fenice, which has been a magnificent heir to the history of opera in Venice since May 16, 1792, beginning with the Teatro San Cassiano in 1637. They also connect to the Museum of Music, housed in the Church of San Maurizio since 2004, featuring 200 original musical instruments from the 16th to the 20th century, representing the craftsmanship of luthiers from all regions of Italy.
Finally, the tours conclude at the Library and Museum of the Conservatorio di Musica “Benedetto Marcello,” a treasure trove containing manuscripts, texts, and musical instruments of incomparable value.
